2. Cannot remove impurities physically. This type of purifier is able to render the water clean by killing and sterilizing the harmful bacteria, germs and all others micro-organisms. It cannot physically strain the water to get it free from all the impurities.
The ultraviolet water purifier works by exterminating' the existing micro-organisms - some good along with those which are bad, which is not a great idea. Human beings need the support and intervention of friendly micro-organisms, and destroying them all is not a very good idea.

The ultraviolet water purifier becomes less and less efficient as the amount of contaminants increase; this is when the UV lamp cannot function well because of the presence on metals, chlorine and a number of chemicals. In this case, filters are required to keep the water free of contaminant particles so the UV lamp can do its work. This, in turn increases the cost of the water purification.
